Our commitment

The safety and wellbeing of all students is our absolute priority. I am committed to creating and maintaining a safe learning environment for all students, both online and in any future in-person tutoring.

This policy follows guidance aligned with Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) and reflects best practices for private tutoring services.

Certified and Verified

I hold an enhanced DBS check and complete annual safeguarding training to ensure I'm equipped to recognise and respond to any concerns appropriately.

DBS and training

I maintain current and appropriate safeguarding credentials:

Online lesson safety

All online tutoring sessions include specific safety measures:

  • Secure platforms: Using reputable video conferencing with waiting rooms
  • Controlled access: Only invited participants are admitted to sessions
  • Parental awareness: Parents/guardians should be nearby during sessions for younger students
  • No unexpected recording: Sessions are never recorded without explicit written consent
  • Appropriate communication: All communication remains professional and within tutoring scope
  • Clear boundaries: Sessions focus strictly on educational content

Recognising concerns

I am trained to recognise potential indicators of:

  • Physical, emotional, or sexual abuse
  • Neglect or inadequate care
  • Bullying (including cyberbullying)
  • Mental health concerns
  • Radicalisation or extremism
  • Online safety risks

If any concerns arise, I will take appropriate action in line with safeguarding procedures, prioritising the student's wellbeing.

Responding to concerns

If a safeguarding concern arises, I will:

  • Listen: Take any disclosure seriously and supportively
  • Record: Document concerns accurately and securely
  • Report: Contact appropriate authorities when required
  • Support: Continue to provide appropriate support to the student
  • Review: Assess whether tutoring should continue and under what conditions

I may pause or discontinue services if safeguarding concerns cannot be adequately addressed.
